This is a selection of Uniphones – there are three styles of Uniphone in two colours displayed here. The top row is Burled Walnut, and the bottom row is black. The #1 Uniphones are shown with and without a dial, while the #2 Uniphones are both dial models.
Additionally there is a telephone table here that has a chair that folds out.
These phones were all manufactured by Northern Electric. The burled walnut are much more difficult to find, and we had many examples of the black before we found any walnut phones at all! One of our walnut phones has an NF handset — this early handset had a two-piece cover for the mouthpiece. Later handsets had a single piece that was screwed on.
The telephone table is a neat piece too – manufactured by the H. T. Cushman company, this is one of six styles of BETUMAL telephone tables.
The table has a glass top with a paper insert to track telephone calls. The bench folds out for easy access.
The telephones are catalogued in our collection as T-001, T-002, T-003, T-004, T-005, and T-012. The telephone table has not been catalogued at this time.
